Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear?
My biggest clothing advice is to wear clothes that you feel good in! Go shopping in your own closet first, and if you have pieces or basics that you love, go from there. Neutrals and earth tones always look great, and some color can look amazing too, especially in more monochromatic environments.
Families
Choosing several colors and then having each person wear something from that color palette can be a good way to go. Think about outfits that “work together”, rather than perfectly matching. Layers, textures, and knits all look great. A pop of color can be fun! Wear clothes that feel like your family, maybe a little elevated from everyday wear. Looking through my galleries can help you find a look or inspiration too!
Senior Guys
Feel free to plan on a full outfit change or do a few different shirts/hoodies while we’re out. I want you to be comfy, but a button-down can be nice for a few shots too. If you want, bring sports jerseys, school sports gear, an instrument, a cultural item, or any extras that feel like you. College hoodies (if you are planning on attending after high school) or caps and gowns are great in the spring. If you just want to show up in a shirt and get it all done, that works too!
Senior Girls
What I recommend is that you start with outfit number one (a cute dress or dressier combo can be fun). Then do a full outfit change to jeans and a sweet top. You may bring another top or two along that you can change into along the way (with a tank underneath). By doing this, we can ensure that you’ll get the variety that you want, along with the different looks of our location. Then you’ll spend your time enjoying your session, rather than spending time too much time changing and losing momentum and light. Extras like flower bouquets, an instrument, a book or Bible, a uniform shirt, or sports equipment can be great too!
What is the timeline from booking until I have my photos?
When you contact me, we will find a date for your full session together. My busier time of year is July through November, and it never hurts to reach out for a date earlier rather than later. If you have a place in mind, that’s great! If not, I have a ton of ideas. I try to schedule you for the time with the best light for your chosen location, which is often about two hours before sunset.
When we are a few days out from your date, I’ll confirm the detals, the weather, and where we will meet. Your full session will take about an hour, sometimes less, and sometimes a bit more if there’s more walking in our location.
After your session, I’ll share a preview pic within a day or two. Then I will have your entire gallery link delivered by email to you within two weeks (often faster than that when I can!)
What can I do with my photos?
When you own your digital images, the sky is the limit on how you may use them. Of course, I always recommend printing some, and my favorite lab is BayPhoto. I love to create photobooks for my family and do a special photobook of senior pictures and all the special events for my graduates. You may use them online, for announcements, Christmas cards, invitations, and thank-you cards.
Where can I have my photos taken?
We are so fortunate to be tucked into one of the prettiest corners of the world here in Washington! I definitely have favorite spots during the different seasons of the year. Flower gardens, fields, coastal and waterfront locations, rivers, bridges, urban, and more! I have lots of ideas to get you the look that you want, and each location provides a different mood and feel. I include 20 miles of travel from the Auburn 98092 area, and will also go beyond to the mountains and other further distances for an additional fee.
