It's crazy how much change happens in the first year of life! When I met Eli and his family, he was just 6 months and a pretty captive audience as he was stuck on a blanket or in his parents' arms. Now, at over a year, he was pretty much wanting to run all around. What hasn't changed is his crazy, happy little grin and the way his parents play with him. SO fun to see them again!

Big shout out to Annie and Brad who didn't let the rain stop us from family pictures. They invited me to their beautiful home which still let in amazing light, even when it was pouring outside. They are warm and fun parents who chased, tickled, tossed, cuddled and hugged their three awesome little ones. I have a feeling that's a lot of what goes on in their home anyways. Thank you for a great morning!
So happy to spend a morning with this wonderful family playing around in the sunshine. These littles are growing up fast and sure do love their mom and dad, who are crazy about them too!
Sometimes all the stars align and I have the perfect set up for a session. On this evening, Christina and Matt were able to work their schedules to make it over for the gorgeous light that's been so rare this fall. The light...the color of the trees.....and their loving little family made it pure bliss for me. Everly is a chunk of sweetness and she was easy as pie the whole night.
What a joy it was to meet up with Josh and Anna and their sweet kiddos, Giselle and Theo. They have their hands and hearts very full and in a few months another wonderful girl will be added to the mix. We did some fall family pictures and the color and the fog were just gorgeous. Theo has the biggest grin and he was zipping around, a little man on the run. Giselle was so fun for me to play around with too! Unfortunately, Theo's arm got a little hurt about halfway through so we finished what we could and then we met up this past weekend so we could complete the family shots and individuals of him. This family is so full of God's love and life. There are lots of hugs and cuddles and fishie crackers to make it all run smoothly too. Thank you for this opportunity to document your beautiful family!
What a treat it was to photograph this beautiful family in the most gorgeous light! Maya's sweet smile was even brighter than the sunshine and it was clear how loved she is by her parents and grandparents who were able to join us as well.
I'm sure I'm a little overwhelming for cute babies. I gush and laugh and I'm sure Eli was thinking the crazy lady with the black thing in front of her face was losing her mind. However, he beamed at me and then at his parents. His blue eyes, squishy cheeks and gorgeous smile were so endearing. It was so fun to take his six month portraits with his parents, Anna and Eric. Documenting little people in the context of their families makes me happy because you can see how treasured they are!
I was itching to see Owen after doing his newborn portraits six months ago. His parents are so in love with him and this wonderful baby boy has such a lovely personality. We were laughing as we were playing around with him during pictures and his happy nature made it so easy. Beautiful light, loving parents and a gorgeous baby....heaven!
It was such a treat to see how adored this gorgeous little girl is. Her mom and dad and brother are all taken with her. She has a girly little face and is a fantastic snuggler (which I can attest to)! Some of my favorite newborn pictures of my babies are of them being loved by the family because it's such a special time of welcoming a new person who is already overwhelmingly loved! Zeb is also doing a great job as a big brother and loves his baby.
What a treat it was to photograph this dollbaby. Little Edith made this session a piece of cake. She just snoozed and looked adorable the whole time! We started out in her bedroom and got some fun closeups of her and then popped over to the park across the street for some pictures in the daisies and all cozied up with her parents. Shane and Tina are in love with their sweetheart and sure impressed me with their easygoing approach. Parenthood looks good on them!
What a pleasure it was to meet up with these wonderful twins brothers and their parents. Ty and Carson are two happy guys with two fabulous heads of hair. They are busy little men and keeping Kate and Scott's hands and hearts very full. What a treat is was to see how much they look at and interact with each other too.
What a treat it was for me to see this family again! I had the privilege of photographing the birth of Caden and Olivia last February. Sian and Brant have navigated these first months amazingly and it was pretty clear to me that big brother, William, is thriving and feeling very loved, even with his whole world changing. We managed to find a window of dry time, right before all these crazy fall storms stripped the red trees of the leaves and we even got a window of gorgeous light right at the end.
I knew we were in for a good time when we met and Angela introduced her son to me and told him that this was "the lady that we're going to play with." My favorite pictures are ones where we are playing together to get the interactions and expressions that are real with littles. Angela is also a wonderful local photographer (though frankly, she could be a model herself) and we have some mutual friends. I loved photographing their family in the golden light which was as warm as their relationships. So thankful!
It's always amazing to me how fast little babies grow. I've been watching Zeb grow on facebook since our session last fall and he's so much bigger but still the same gentle, sweet natured baby. was good to catch up with Shana and Adam as we did their portraits. They are a great couple and so in love with their boy, and nothing makes me happier than taking portraits of people who are in love with each other. Well, that and great light and great weather and a pretty location. Win, win, all the way around!
I had a great time with this sweet boy, taking his one year old portraits! What a laid back and happy personality Macallister has! He's a chunk of love and has some serious thighs. He rocked the fedora but sure wasn't sure about the birthday cake.
What was also fun was when I got home and his mama and I made the connection on facebook and I realized that I knew some of her family from the days I worked with our church district's children's ministries when I lived in Texas. Small world!
Happy birthday, Macallister! It was so nice to meet you and your mama!
What a special morning it was to spend time with this beautiful family! I met Kate at one of my photography classes but I'd already seen her cute twin boys on her sisters' posts on Facebook of her darling nephews. Ty and Carson were born early and they spent weeks and weeks at the hospital. What a joy it is to see these precious boys thriving and so full of joy at seven months. They are so loved by Scott and Kate who were made to be these boys' parents. I can't even guess how many kisses these babies get constantly, and especially on the tummy now that they are chubbing up so much!
We spent the first part of our time together in their home with them cuddling and after a quick little nap we popped in the backyard for a few more family pictures. My heart was very full by the end of the morning. Kate and Scott, thank you for letting me document your little treasures!
I’ve gotten to know this awesome family through our church during the last year. Brandon and his oldest son, Josiah, were cabin leaders at kids’ camp with Caleb in their cabin and I remember seeing their pack of guys having a blast. There was a game on the last day of the week where all the cabins in our rotation were stealthing around the grounds with plates of shaving cream, strategizing abut how to get past the dinosaurs, fairies and mad scientists. You bond over those kinds of experiences and Caleb tells me he’s ready for camp again!
They are a good crew. Their warmth, affection for each other, and prizing of the baby was so fun on our night together. We had gorgeous evening light and they were easy. Believe me, I know what it’s like for a family of many moving targets to be photographed and they were laid back and fun.
One of my goals when I group families is to really make an effort to get images of each parent with each of their children. I just think it’s good for those one on one pictures. We also do some put together shots and then stir the pot and get some fun ones too.
Meghan is one of the most chilled out moms that I photograph. I met her when she was pregnant with Maebry and had the opportunity to photograph both Maebry’s first year and Miller’s first year and every time she is easygoing. In fact, she always lets me choose the spots and this last time when I gave her two options, she wrote back and said, “You’re going to make me choose? How about the one with the best bathrooms for little kids.”
Not a bad idea. For Miller’s one year session, we turned it into a family session with her parents, and brother’s family who were in town for the birthday party. Now it’s always going to be hairy when we’ve got a group that includes four kiddos that are four and under, but these adults rocked it out. They laughed and played and bribed and chased and cheered…and laughed some more. Those are my kinds of parents and grandparents. Honestly, the ones that we love the best in the end are the ones that show the personality, right? When I was editing and came across little Marshall trying to escape his cousin, Maebry’s enthusiastic hug, with Grandma and Grandpa laughing, I was cracking up.
What a joy it’s been to photograph sweet Astraea as she’s grown. She turned two at the end of December and her mom and I were happy to have a sunny morning to take her two year old portraits mini session. She has a very soft little heart and lovely personality and has her three big brothers adoring her. I would guess that Astraea’s favorite person is her mama and though she was a bit shy about doing all her pictures on her own, I’m thrilled to document the love that this mama and her girl have for each other. Thank you, Mindi, for the joy of photographing your family!
I am one lucky girl that photographing beautiful families in the fall sunshine and eliciting giggles from twin girlies is my job! Seriously, it’s just about too good to be true. I first met up with Rob and Tanja and their twins, Ella and Maddy, last summer and was so looking forward to photographing them again. They looked like a magazine family, so fun and whimsical for the girls….two sets of tutus, tights and mary janes…be still my heart! I was thrilled that the sun gave us gorgeous backlight. The girls were a tiny bit hesitant with me at the beginning but by the end we were holding hands. I am certain the promise of cheeseburgers did much to add to the pictures too!
We wandered around a trail and then I dragged them down to the river, which wasn’t the best idea ever, as the waters had risen and created a lot of mud since the last time I was there (they were super gracious!!). We then headed off to some pretty color of another park which was a great backdrop to the warmth of their relationships! Thank you for a wonderful morning!
