The beach is our happy place. No matter how crazy things can get, the moment they step into the sand, our kids become firm allies.  Ready to collaborate on sand projects where they furiously dig against the tide nipping its way closer to their detailed construction, they also chase and laugh and swim as the sun melts differences between them. The sunshine and the warmth lift me up too. We went to White Rock Beach when we visited Oma and Opa last weekend.  The crazies dug splashed and then we all ate a tremendous pile of fish and chips.

This is my favorite part of summer, days like this that are unstructured and full of play.

All pictures are black and white because sometimes I crave it.
