Baby Cora Joins the Family

I had a lovely time with my beautiful friend, Shannon, and her wonderful family. They are overwhelmed by the love they have for their new baby, who fits seamlessly and perfectly into their family. Sarah and Emma are the most enthusiastic big sisters-bonus mommies and little Cora Rose is a gem.

We created a mini family film HERE and these are a few of my favorite images.

Editing in Lightroom Class

Saturday, January 20 from 9 A.M.-1 P.M.

Auburn, Wa.

$150

email cassandra@cassandrahamiltonphotography.com

A good, clean edit can make an enormous difference in digital photography and I'd love to take you through the editing tools in Lightroom and show you what I do to bring a consistent look to my images.

In this class we will cover:

  • a very brief overview of why Lightroom is a great tool, creating a file structure and your library module. I'll give you some good notes but we won't spend a ton of time here.
  • the tools in the develop module and when to use them to get the effect you want.
  • how to edit challenging images and we'll work through several together.
  • creating your own presets to give your work continuity and cohesiveness.
  • how to keep your workflow streamlined as you work on a gallery.  I'll take you through my thought processes as I review, cull, edit and export a gallery.

Emily and Jerad Tie the Knot

There's no way I'd have predicted that they'd one day get married when they were both a part of my Mighty Monkeys preschool class! How amazing it is that Emily and Jerad have literally grown up together and now are starting this new season of married life!

It was a pure joy for me to photograph their wedding. So much love and laughter, lots of friends, and many blankets and jackets being passed around as we had a sudden drop in temperatures the day of their wedding. Emily was beaming and full of joy and Jerad has his eyes on his beautiful bride all evening.

I want to say a big thank you to Light Chasing Photography who jumped in and shot with me. Here are a few of my favorites.... p.s. Emily's mama made her dreamy dress.

In the Fall Color

This session was pure joy and I found myself gushing pretty much the whole time over little Owen who is so filled with happiness. We lucked out with gorgeous color and light. Pretty soon a little lady will join this three and they can't wait to get their hands on her. I always love to take maternity photos within the context of family love and there's a lot of love in this wonderful family!

In the Sunshine and Flowers

It was a treat to meet up with Mina, Jeff, Jackie and Camille. The girls just sparkled from the moment we met and we didn't need a lot of warm-up time. We lucked out with a sunshiny night at the Pt. Defiance garden and I was soaking up all the gorgeous light on the dahlias and roses.  Here are some favorites of our time together!

Good Times with Joe, Kari and the Kids

There's a big, warm, soft spot in my heart for this family.  We met Joe and Kari when they came on staff at our church and a couple years ago they were sent over to be lead pastors in Gig Harbor. Even though we don't get to see them weekly, we do sure love the week that we serve on their team at kids' camp each summer. They are the real deal, as fun as they look and with the faith, character and integrity that we have seen faithfully displayed in their lives. Their kids are so fun too and I had a blast with them taking some family portraits recently. Here are a few favorites!

Together {Auburn Family Photography}

Loved my time taking family portraits with Jen, Greg, Mara and Seth. I found myself grinning at my computer screen as I was editing the kids' laughing faces. It's always a treat photographing families like this. Here are some favorites!

Joe's Senior Portraits

We had a gorgeous night of light at the marina taking Joe's senior portraits. I had a blast playing with composition and the light and Joe was easygoing and let me shoot away.  It was so fun walking and talking with the whole family as we went.  I loved hearing about the classes and leadership that Joe's involved in this year and know it's going to be a good one for him.

Seerat's Smile {Auburn Senior Portraits}

Oh my goodness, I had the best time with Seerat taking her senior portraits. She's a smart, sparkly, beautiful girl and it was a treat to document this season for her. She had my creative juices flowing and I loved the variety we got.  Seerat, I hope you have such a great senior year....

Big Smiles

I so enjoyed all the personality going on with Bo, Lux and Troy! These three are busy and funny and warm and I hope that the pictures we took together will always help their parents remember the joy of this season!  We did two locations, some dressier at a church and then in a field with beautiful evening light. Here are a few favorites!

Charlee in the Golden Light {Auburn Newborn Photography}

It's no secret that I'm a lover of golden light. The creamy warmth just seems to highlight each subject. It's been a while since I've done a newborn session in the evening light but Miss Charlee slept through the whole thing without a peep, which gave her family the perfect opportunity to cuddle up and snuggle her in the warmth. I'm loving what we got! High fives to big brother Izzy who is such an affectionate fellow and to Daizy and Jacob who are very easygoing and so fun to work with!

Three Girls in Their Nest {Auburn Family Photography}

I was so thrilled to hear that Shannon and John are going to be adding another beautiful girl to their nest. Sarah and Emma are so ready to love up their baby and this wee girl is already growing in all their hearts!  I'm so thankful for Shannon and her friendship which has come out of photography but now extends to life and family in our conversations. I'm so happy for the gift that's coming their way and can't wait to meet her in a few months!

I hope these maternity portraits will always be a reminder of this sweet season of anticipation...

Heather and Her Sweethearts

All summer long I was loving the daily,  pictures my friend, Heather, was posting of her kids: backyard camping, swimming, day trips and Sawyer running around the backyard in his undies. What fun it was for me to photograph this mama on the other side of the camera with her sweeties. Scarlett and Sawyer are fun monkeys and love to tease each other and their mama. Love that we got a bunch of them playing around on our night together.

Growing {Auburn Family Photography}

What a joy it was to meet up with this wonderful family! The light was absolutely perfect as they all sailed in from different directions...lots of schedules to coordinate! It was fun to add in a boyfriend and a fiancee this year and my guess is that this family is going to grow as the years go by....and they are pretty happy about it. I have to say, it's a  special thing to have families like this in our lives who are a few steps ahead with growing amazing families as we are navigating these years.

We're looking forward to seeing you at Ashlea and Braden's wedding.....next week!!

Kim's Favorites {Auburn Family Photography}

What a joy it's been to become friends with many of the wonderful people who have taken my photography classes. Over the past few years, I've gotten to know Kim as someone who loves the Lord and loves her family.  It was a joy to me to meet her husband and awesome kids and to document them all together. They were a good time and we laughed at lot and the icing on the cake was when Kim shared that as they got home, her 11 year old commented that it was really fun....I'd call that success!  Here are a few of their portraits and silhouettes that we captured.

Together {Auburn Family Photography}

What fun it was to spend time with this family last week! I met Kristie last year and then have been able to get to know her better as she's taken some of my photography classes. She does a gorgeous job documenting her family's life and so it was such a treat to photograph her with the ones that she loves the most!

At the Beach {Federal Way Family Photography}

Oh, how I love this family!  Sarah and Shawn and the girls are our heart friends and we are grateful for the gift of their friendship to our family.

Sarah and I had been talking about beach photos for a while and were happy to make it work on this lovely evening. We started near the trees at the park while the sun was still high and made it all the way out to low tide by the time the sun was setting. I love the variety we got and I also was pleased that Sarah's parents (our dearly loved pastors) were able to come join us for some grandparent shots too.  We laughed and talked and I kept them way too long which is what happens when the light is so beautiful.

Here's a big peek....

Hockey Sticks and Jumping High {Auburn Family Photography}

I had a great time with this family the other evening, documenting their family and we even got to include grandma in the pictures too which is always a treat. These boys were fun and did a great job, even staying mostly clean while they explored!  There was one point at the river, where an interesting man strolled out in knee socks and what looked to be underwear or a very small swimsuit so we all were trying not to laugh too much!  It was fun to create some silhouettes at the end with their hockey sticks and also they showed me their amazing jumping skills.
